The Freedom panel was previously an ADT product, it arms by locking and unlocking the deadbolt. A modified GEM-P800

Tech support sucks for one .

have been familar with the line since the CC1 series and found programming difficult attimes had to use an interface piece to get proper downloads the ma3000 before the windows verion software came out took up to much memory always had to play with the computer DOS and memory so i could change and program zones. etc etc. If adequte tech support was there instead of attiude I may have stayed with the line but chose and stayed with FBII and Ademco all these years and did some Moose before Sentrol ruined the line and DSC before they started causing problems couple years out after they were installed.

Been there done that over 25 years

I have a freedom panel on my desk. Napco is kidding with this right?

I looked at it, and I looked again. And then I gave it one more try. I would never install this thing in someones home.

Napco should look at what ITI is doing. The ITI Allegro is a step in the right direction.

I didn't say I LIKED the "FREEDUM" just passing along info! It used to be said that if you could keypad program NAPCO you could do ANY Panel (even an MA3000!) I agree Jim, I wouldn't put this junk in someones house either (ADT pre-stuff!) Like I wouldn't sell an alarm system for $99.95 either! Allegro is good for apartment and condo type installs too! Good for the college crowd also! Some posters here are predicting the demise of certain GE sub-companies though! Waiting for the TRUTH!

Most people don't have key in, key out deadbolts. But many have sidelights or glass within the door. I can see someone smashing the sidelight and unlocking the deadbolt...SYSTEM DISARMED.

Then you'r screwed but how often does that really happen?

It's actually an interesting product and it does use a "key" if needed, I've got one too and I'm not sure yet about it but the idea does have potential

Very Good point...........

Not to be picky, but the MA3000 *is* a Napco panel. I used to program Napco by keypad on a regular basis... until they came up with a software program there really wasn't any alternative.

In ASA? Yeah, right. :^)

Of course how many residential users realy use there systems I would bet only 25% of the ones I put in for ADT dealer are still actually being used and almost all the residentials I put in and when the owner I put it in for moved out the new owner does not use it. then there are those who only use it when there on vacation. and people wonder why i do not do residential work any more. Who needs the headaches or the liabilty. I will stay with the high risk commercail and inductrial any day.

Really. I'm just the opposite!...I'd much rather deal with loyal friendly (and pay on time) homeowners...one on one...mostly custom homes. Dumped most of my big commercial stuff, kept only the ones that are also homeowners of mine.

Me too ! I feel exactly as you do Crash! Many if not most residential clients really appreciate the personal service and stick with you through thick or thin ! Some have become good friends.....

I'm on a drive to get rid of as many commercial accounts as I can. I'm convinced they are nothing but a pain in the neck....difficulty of training with changes of staff......user caused false alarms which occur regardless of level of training......stupid, negligent service calls (fork lifts running into motions)......constant upgrading of calling lists (when they remember). The bigger the client, the more useless work......plus you as often as not, have to chase them for money. I love service work, but not the kind caused by blatant stupidity.....

With ADT takeovers coming in steady at 10 a month now, losing a few troublesome commercial accounts is a blessing in disguise.....

Yeppers!

Oh you forgot the forklift operator who at 7 AM snags the overhead door contact (which is installed at almost the top of the door) wiring & armored switch dangling there ALL day...when do the call for service?....at 6 pm on friday night.

Code changes and user changes used to make me nuts...some of them had 100 users. I used to do it for free, but that got ridiculous because they'd call in a couple in the morning, a few more later in the day..so I started charging a modest fee in not so much to make money but to get them to THINK about NOT making changes hourly!

Nah, you can keep the big commercial stuff...too much of a pitb.
