PEAP and Aironet 12xx

As I understand this document

the Aironet 1200 cannot be used with PEAP without installing additional software. Is this true?

If yes, what other strong security mechanisms do you recommend?

Well, yes, you need an external RADIUS server that supports PEAP. The AP's builtin RADIUS server supports LEAP and EAP-FAST.

EAP-FAST would meet the need, assuming that you have EAP-FAST supplicants on your clients.

An alternative for very small deployments would be WPA-PSK - this is plenty secure, assuming that you choose a good strong passphrase.
