Help - lost access to 7206 router

Apr 10, 2005 3 Replies

Hello, I was trying to change to console speed on my 7206 to 115200 to get a little quicker response, It is a NPE-G1 box. SO I changed the config-register to 0x3823 and now at 9600 unknown characters scroll on the screen and at 115200 there is no response. Is there any way back onto this router? The router was just wr-erased also, so there is no ip way into it.

Please help Thanks

You set it to 2400

3823 = 111011101111

bit 5 =0 bit 11 =1 bit12 = 1

with that combo gives you 2400 baud

5 11 12 speed 1 1 1 115200 1 0 1 57600 1 1 0 38400 1 0 0 19200 0 0 0 9600 0 1 0 4800 0 1 1 2400 0 0 1 1200

FYI:

you can set the console speed under the 'line con 0' for normal operation/console. As for changing the registry, it is used for xmodem (if you have to dump IOS on a box via such drastic measures..which did not sound like your case).
