Adding 5828v to Ademco Lynx-r Panel

If the system is being monitored by someone you shouldnt mess with the system programming.

If it's not...you need to know the installer code to get into programming to make the changes.

Crash, I have the installer code, but need to know what steps are involved to make the Lynx-r see the 5828v. After some further research I did find that I would need to have a House ID code and the 5828v would need to be the same. I will need to check my panel and see, if it currently uses a House ID. However, I was looking for installation instructions for the 5828v. I wanted to know how complex it is to install this device before I purchase it.

If memory serves it not addressable, but I think you need the house id code.

I've never used one, but past discussions here actually talked me out of installing one due to liimited range. It was also suggested to use the transformer too..so I figured whats the point if I cant put it 40 feet away from the main panel reciever and I still have to fish a power wire down the wall to the nearest outlet I may as well just take the extra time an run a line to a regular keypad.

Programming doesn't look all that bad, but if you screw the pooch anywhere else in the programming your panel won't report to your CS properly and you may not even know it.

Hi! I looked into this not that long ago and decided to go with two wireless KeyFobs instead of installing keypads for my Lynx system. It was a decision that worked really well for us. Not at all complicated to program and use. Later.

Here's a link to Honeywell's (Ademco's parent comany) dealer page from whence you can download any and all manuals for the Lynx, the keypad and just about anything else they make.

Because he's not a security dealer.

Don't get him started on that. He has no compunction posting costs and pointing out how his modest markup will save you a ton of money over the same system installed by a licensed alarm dealer (he uses "installed prices" as a way to promote his "mantra").

Rick, I believe keyfobs have a different purpose from the 5828v keypad. I already have three keyfobs, one for myself, my wife and my son.

Robert the site is asking for a user name and password, which I don't have. Does one have to be a certified installer to get the login information or can this information be shared publicly?

you have to be an alarm company/installer with an account with ADI to access the tech section of the web.

IMO, its because he lives to undermine, irritate, and provoke those of us in the security business. He has a long history of this, and the more vehement the objections to his conduct, the better he likes it. He feeds off of the reactions of the others in the group, and as you have seen, there are a few who feed him regularly.

My personal opinion is that he is jealous of the security professionals here because he was unable to make a go of it himself. It's quite simple if you stop to think about it. js
