Please help with NAM vm setup

I'm not a telecom tech. I am an IT professional trying to help a client set up their NAM for a basic function. I have the documentation, and I do not mind making the time to learn what I have to.

They have 7-8 employees who work in and out of the office all day. No receptionist. They want to set the vm up basically like an answering machine. They want a basic greeting that says no one is available, please leave a message at the tone. Then they want anyone in the office to be able to check the messages when they return. One mailbox, 7-8 "owners," no password protection.

Could we record 1-2 basic greetings, then straight to a mailbox? Would we use the general delivery mailbox? Would I disable the AA, or at least disable the AA greeting, so that the opening greeting would be the only words the caller would hear?

In such an arrangement, could everyone check the general delivery messages from their phone, or have to use main ext 221?

thank you,

jm

Personally I wouldn't do it. Too much room for error, (lost messages and such) Secondly you should involve someone who knows the system to educate the customer on what they can do.

With all due respect, I didn't ask whether or not this was a good idea. I asked how to make it work.

If you don't mind, could you please tell me how to make it work?

thanks,

What I would do is set up one voicemail box for an extension and then forward that phone to mail. You will still need a password, so just use a simple one like 1234.

well i would set up a CCR tree and make the home node a mailbox node (General Delivery) and you could record a generic greeting in there. the only problem with this is how do you know which person the message was for? you can check the mailbox from any phone by a F981 and then press the "other" softkey. it will then ask you for the mailbox number and password combonation.

The DN length determines the mailbox number and password so please reference the chart below. Default System Administrator Mailbox (F983) number and password combinations For a mailbox number length of..."row 1" the default System Administrator Mailbox number is..."row 2" and the default System Administrator Mailbox password is..."row 3" so the combined mailbox number and password is..."row 4"

2 12 0000 120000 3 102 0000 1020000 4 1002 0000 10020000 5 10002 0000 100020000 6 100002 0000 1000020000 7 1000002 0000 10000020000

to reset this password:

1.) Go to any two line display phone. 2.) Press Feature 985 (display shows VM:XXXX). 3.) Press 9 (display shows Pswd:). 4.) Enter: resetsmpswd (73738767793) Press OK. 5.) Display shows (Reset pswd) Press yes.
