Q: 802.1q support on 4000 series routers - can it run over the Ethernet interfaces or must it go via Fa ?

HSB, Thanks for the quick reply. I know that the 2610s do it as of 12.2(2)T and was wondering about the 4000 series as well.

That's because FastEthernet does not seem to be supported on the 4000s (only on the 4500s and 4700s) yet they seem to have 802.1Q support as per::

So it has to run over the Ethernet interfaces then. Wouldn't you say?

I'm after a few 4500s and if I can do without the NP-1FE modules ($100-$150 each) then I'll be very happy.
