Is is possbile to boot the router from a running config on the compact flash card versus nvram?

Hello,
yes, that is possible. For e.g. a 3600 router, you would need to put the following configuration statement in:
boot system flash slot0:filename
or
boot system slot0:filename
Is that what you are looking for ?
