DSL Line Drop - HELP

Feb 06, 2005 2 Replies

I am running a Bell South DSL that seems to go dead whenever there is a lack of activity. I also have a cable broadband line that is always on. The cable never has these sorts of problems. How can I prevent the DSL line from going off-line short of rebooting the system? Very frustrating...

If you are using a Westell Modem, use your browser to 192.168.1.254 and go into expert mode. Somewhere in the configuration, there will be a place to set the connection type. Set it to "Always On". Good luck.

I reset the modem option to always on and I believe it worked. I guess when the telco gives you the modem/router they prefer for it to be in 'on-demand' mode.
