I have installed a wireless usb adaptor on my desktop. When I plugin the usb adaptor, it automatically fires up the wi-fi wireless utility and it picks up a wi-fi connection. The connection shows the correct name of the connection it has picked with excellent signal strength.
However, when I go to the browser, I canot get top the internet.
Any particular make/model?...
You don't mention to what else you are connecting, nor its config, post your machines IP address config too, that will help.

Actually I have sorted it. The wi-fi gear was working ok and picking up a conenction but I could not get anything from the net.
Apparently the settings on the base station did not allow any unauthorised connections. I setup to allow this connection with the relevant mac address and now it works.
