Are you talking regular monophonic ring tones or polyphonic ring tones? In either case you go to a site that sends ring tones and usually there's some sign up procedure. They'll send the ring tone to you (usually for a fee) and you'll receive it as an SMS. When the tone comes into your phone you'll have the opportunity to play the tone and if you like it you'll then have the opportunity to save it. There are also PC programs that will allow you to compose your own ring tones and send them to your phone through either a cable or sent over the air to your phone through your computer.
