Need help troubleshooting Ademco panel...lengthy

Sep 26, 2005 8 Replies

HI everyone, I recently purchased a home that has an alarm with an Ademco panel . I think it's about 8 years old. I'm not sure what model it is. But I can locate the model number if you tell me where to find it. The problem is when I plug the panel in there's a constant tone and the panel shows check 09, check 61, check 10, alarm 04, and alarm 05. The previous owner didn't have it serviced and disconnected the panel. I called the company that installed the alarm and they tried to sell (browbeat) me a "monitoring contract on special for $22.00 per/mo for

3 years on autopay if your credit score is 650 or greater", all before I got a chance to speak to someone about my problem. If I have to I'll pay their $30.00 to come to my house plus $70.00 per hour to fix it, my wife would feel safer with it on, but I just didn't like the way they tried to sell me that contract before giving me a chance to tell them what my problem was. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's scrolling through troubles and alarms. Enter your code + off and then code + off again. That will only clear the troubles, not solve them.

You're probably gonna need a service call to resolve the troubles. 70 per hr is not excessive, if they have records on the system (they should if they installed it) it shouldnt take more than an hour. You'll probably need a new system battery and you might also have some wireless points that need batteries or covers...hard to tell without having record of the install.

Monitoring rate tied to your credit score sounds like one of the big alarm companies routine...but 22 bucks is a fair rate these days.

hth..

It sounds like you will need new batteries and mabye some parts depending on the condition of the transmitters. 70.00/hr is reasonable the company I worked for last was 95 for the first 1/2hr and 25.00/15 min after that. If you have additional questions please email me snipped-for-privacy@gmail.com

With gas prices now, we're at 75 p/h for monitored clients, 95 p/h for locals, 1 hr minimum no trip charge if within 40 miles from shop...1/2 increments after 1st hr.

darn, i must need to goto $150 an hour to keep up with yall :-) everything is double here ..

Check 09 can be several issues, could be a bad battery, or they could have simply taken the receiver with them, bad receiver, or the reciever isnt connected properly, Check 61 will depend what panel it is, the others are zones in alarm, low batteries or damaged units missing covers or whatnot.

Best to have a Technician come and look at it, doesnt have to be the monitoring company, im sure Crash will come down there :-)

Hey..pay me and I'll go as long as there's no rain or snow.

I was wondering the same thing....
