Hello group.

I am using a DSC 864 W/a DSC 5580TC Escort Module with home automation enabled. For the X-10 control the 5580 is connected to a X10 one-way interface module. I have multiple x-10 devices around the home and rely on "Home control assistant" to handle automation tasks. The X-10 system works flawlessly as I have several filters a couple of boosterlincs and a Signal bridge between phases. I never have a problem getting signals to any devices with the exception of the interface module connected to the

864/5580. It will work well for several days and then appears to send out "Garbage" Or will operate intermittently. If I unplug the interface it will seem to correct the problem(s) for another day or two and then start operating improperly again. I was curious if anyone else has had similar problems? I realize X-10 is considered very unreliable, But I have had very few problems with my current setup. I should also mention I have tried to relocate the one-way interface to several different AC Loactions with the same results. Thanks in advance for any input anyone has to offer.

How old is the Escort module? If it's under warranty return it. DSC is pretty good about that. If your dealer won't help, contact me. I'll get it fixed or replaced for you.

I have an identical setup using, however, the Power 932 instead of the Power

864. I have found the X10 components to be quite reliable (so far).

From you description I suspect that the "X10 one-way interface module" is the culprit. These are usually pretty inexpensive. Have you tried changing it out?

I've found that when mine is plugged into the same power strip as the alarm system and telephone system, it does funky stuff. Plugging it into the duplex outlet at the A/C breaker panel solves the problem.

You may not have actually moved it to another phase the first time, just thought you did. If you install a bridge across both phases, your X-10 devices will work more reliably. js

I received the new one-way interface today and installed it with no change in the operation. Just for reference the receptacle the interface is plugged into is on it's own breaker. I moved the breaker to another phase with no change. I finally moved the breaker to a blank position 6 positions above all other breakers. This corrected the problem. I do not understand this as I did turn off one breaker at a time to try to isolated the cause, But the problem always persisted. I don't know why it functions properly now, But it does. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks Js for the reply. As stated in the original post I do have a phase coupler installed. And the first time I moved the breaker I moved it to the opposite phase of the original location. So again, I still don't know why it is working, But I am glad it is.
