A caller asks about your copier, and then a few days later you receive unsolicited supplies for that model copier via common carrier or in the mail at an exorbitant price.

I used to get those calls all the time, even before we had a copier. I guess the perps hope their victims don't realize that, legally, unsolicited merchandise is a gift. The victim can keep it and is under no obligation to pay for it.

So ....... would you feel obligated to pay for it (?) or return it ?

I'd just tell them I never got it and could they ship me another.

See how many times they'd believe me before they realized I was never going to pay them.

Oh...yah that one is so old I'd forgotten that.

In your case, you can "resell it" at a "modest markup" or "donate it" for a tax deductible receipt (for the retail value of the merchandise).
