Hi everyone thers a fire investigator in one of the other groups i talk on that is asking for any info regarding a Kiddie Ion smoke model 1276 which overheated and started smoking. has any one else experinced this

Check the batch number and manufacture date. Then call the nice folks at Kidde and "splain" the situation. It could be a "one of", but in my experience (particularly with Kidde products), this is just the tip of the "iceberg".
As with everything else these days... "offshore".
