I'd say it depends on how old yours is, but it can't hurt from time to time. Just hang on to a copy of the older ones in case something goes wrong and you want to reinstall it.

Is it necessary to upgrade the firewall from time to time?
I would have to agree, however the newest version of ZA has had some minor issues with those upgrading ... :-\\
