WLAN, VLAN & BVI

Hi There,

I have a general question concerning BVI & Dot11 interfaces on a 871W. I had to configure a Subinterface for the radio Interface to get he box running. This is the point which is a little confusing to me. Why do I have to work with subinterfaces to bring the radio up. Is it not possible to attach the radio interface to the bridge-group without using subinterfaces? There is only one VLAN (Vlan1 / native) in which all internal interfaces (fe & radio) should be member of. In order to bring the radio up I had to configure a subinterface for the radio and put this one in the bridge-group & Vlan. When I tried to to the same with the radio interface itself it did not come up (reset Status).

Can anybody tell me why I need to use subinterfaces in this case? I like to understand.....

Thanks...Andy
