PDM upgrade for PIX 515e

Feb 15, 2006 4 Replies

Hi all,

I have a Pix515e with: Cisco PIX Firewall Version 6.3(3) and Cisco PIX Device Manager Version 3.0(1)

I can not connect to the PDM via http, because, according to Cisco, the new Java updates. Cisco?s web site says to update the PDM to the latest version.

I would LOVE to do that if I could find it anywhere to download! Same with the Firewall version 7.. How do I get these??

Thanks!

Matt

These are pulled down from the Cisco Web site. It takes a bit of navigation around their site to find them, but it's not impossible. You do need to have a current support licence for your PIX to get them. The web site will ask for the serial number of your PIX. Personally, I thought it was a bit weird that we have a paid support contract, and the entire upgrade for 7.0 and the PDM came as a download, no disc. Maybe they'd have sent a disc if we asked for it. -- If memory serves you install it via the typical Cisco method, via TFTP.

You can use https e.g. https://PIX iterface ip

and you have to enable hhtp server in pix configuration first.

Thanks, Was afraid of that. I need to see how to get a new support contract I'm guessing. The PIX is a couple years old.

Thanks.. This is how I usually connect to the pix, however it now gives me java access denied errors.. nothing on the pix changed, but newer java plugins have been installed.
