AP 1200

Hi guys, I have an Aironet 1200 that keeps reloading, I have tried the escape button to go to the rommon, and tried as well to recover the image through the Mode button, both are not working. I can not access both the CLI and the web page due to the frequent reload. I might have done something wrong with the image name for downloading it, where the Aironet configuration Guide mentions that the image should have the following format :

c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar

while what I get after upload is:

c1200-k9w7-mx.122-13.JA4.tar

So I changed the mx into tar desperately, and still it could not find the image after the Mode button recovery.

  1. Below you will find how it keeps reloading,

To recover this AP1200, I would do this:

  1. Get an AP1200 image from CCO; use one of the following IOS versions: 12.3(7)JA4 12.3(8)JA2 12.3(8)JEA

  1. Find a computer that you can play with, and put a known good TFTP server on it. I like the current Solarwinds server; if you have your own favorite, so much the better.

  2. Put the new AP1200 image into the TFTP server's root direction; rename it to "c1200-k9w7-tar.default".

  1. Address this computer's LAN adapter with 10.0.0.2.

  2. Put this computer and the AP1200 on the same LAN.

  1. Perform the mode button recovery procedure.

If you still don't get things working as desired, go here for further instructions:

Hi, i did try it, and i did it twice, where the image got downloaded on the AP and extracted, but i still have the same problem, the AP keeps reloading. I do not want to rule it as a hardware failure yet.

Andy, After you recover the AP using the mode button you MUST tftp a new image to the box. The mode image load is to only recover the box and allow you to put the real image on it.

Hi Brian, the problem is that i can not acces the AP neither through the CLI, nor the HTTP to download any image, so i used the MODE button to download an image i have from another AP (tar file), and still the same problem it is not booting even to the rommon (ap:), i tried the escape key as well to go to the rommon and it is not working. Simply It keeps reloading, appreciate ur help.

Are you re-naming the image to the required name? Are you setting the IP on your PC to the required? Is the TFTP server on the local PC running? Is the TFTP server showing the image as being downloaded?

Please make sure you quote the thread as you reply, it makes it very difficult to follow the thread and give you the appropriate advise.
