Reinstalling OS: What is needed to set up internet connection

You need the driver for your NIC. Nothing more.

Q

I am needing to reinstall my operating system, and was wondering what I will need to get my comcast internet cable connection going again? I am using a D-Link DCM-200 modem, and D-link DI-704P router. I am currently using win98, but may move to XP on this next install.

And you may not even need that, if your NIC uses a chipset that can use a generic driver in the OS, or if there is a specific driver for your NIC included in the OS.

Fresh from an Iraqi prisoner interrogation chip3130 smirked:

Nothing, except make sure you have the correct drivers for your NIC.
