Netopia SDSL router with switched 56k backup

Hello,

I am trying to configure a Netopia 4652 SDSL router to use an Adtran DSU III AR as a backup modem over a switched 56k line. Other locations with the same router use Adtran Express 3000 modems on ISDN lines with no problems.

The Adtran DSU III AR is setup to act just like an aynchronous serial modem at 57.6k on its EIA-232 serial port with the basic AT command set and hardware flow control with the same settings in the Netopia router. For some reason, the Netopia router shows no sync with the Adtran modem at all. I tried setting DSR and CS in the Adtran to forced on but it did not help.

Has anyone else here ever had a similar problem with an Adtran modem or Netopia router? Any ideas?

Thanks.
