FTP Problems with DSL

Mar 20, 2006 2 Replies

Good day... I just switched from Dial-up to DSL and my CuteFTP (V2.8) client will no longer logon to my website FTP server, however, I can still logon online with the hosting service and do online file management. All help appreciated!

Does your new configuration also include a new firewall? Possibly built into your DSL router?

A normal FTP connection involves the FTP server initiating a connection back to the client on a port the client specifies; perhaps your firewall isn't allowing the incoming connection.

Try setting your FTP client into "passive" mode, which causes all connections to be initiated by the client, which satisfies most firewalls.
