New Wireless Router

Oct 28, 2006 3 Replies

I'm using a wireless router for two -wired- computers, their plugged in physically.

I notice the speed when transfering files between the two computers is drastically slower then when i used my old 'wired' router.

Am I correct to asume that even on the LAN side wireless routers have a max speed of 54mps or 11 (whatever it is) instead of the 100 that I am used to with my regular router?

Shouldn't be the case.

To say more, you'd have to divulge the make model and version of this mystery device and the one to which you're comparing it.

Your mystery wireless router may not have enough internal horsepower to go as fast.

Nope, the switch inside the router will probably be rated at 10/100, the wireless is a separate entity.
