Where does one buy the plastic/glass rods that are a part of a fire alarm?

Where does one buy the plastic/glass rods that hold the door of a fire alarm in place?

Any local alarm company can order these for you. Or try going to a local ADI. They may be able to sell them to you.

Go to your local glass shop and ask to purchase rods (most will stock ones with varying diameters so it's a good idea to take a sample with you). You can cut them to the right lenght with a set of wire strippers. This beats paying the exhorbitant price for pre-cut rods you get from the manufacturer.

Just be carefull about the glass ones- In some jurisdictions the glass rods are unacceptable- not ADA compliant- the pre-scored plastics are then the way to go.

I've also seen what appeared to be hollow, paper tubes instead of glass rods in a few places. I don't know if they're still available but they predated the plastic ones.
