UL Required to get License

Robert, This thread is a perfect example of why you get so much flak in the newsgroup. You were not UL listed when you were installing, most of us can't afford $2500 to be a member. Roberts contributions to this thread are nothing more than an attack on me. That is OK, he doesn't bother me. I sometimes wonder if his negativity sometimes dilutes the importancy of some of the information though, whether it be from me, you or anyone else. He, for one, is the first to shot the messenger. He is definately disruptive at times. I could have brought info to the group that cow's are going to be mooing to the tune of Silent Night and he would have argued that cow's only bark at the moon and chastize me for not upgrading my herd. He is just mad because he knows that I am privy to info that he doesn't get until they knock on his door. Thanks for noticing his position, as out of line, though.

I was just jerking Worthless' chain. Kicks and giggles, you know.

Of course I wasn't UL Listed. I never needed the listing because the vast majority of my installations were residential. I wasn't trying to market my CS to other dealers (though a few did contract us to do their monitoring) so it wasn't worth the expense or bother. I wondered how long it would take for someone to mention that I never bothered with a UL Listing either. :^)

As to the noise in the newsgroup, it started up as soon as I came back and I wasn't the one who started it. The same morons, beginning with Olson and Leuck, started the same crap they always do. Truth is I couldn't care less what they think. I answer end users' questions, try to help the occasional newbie tech and run my online business. If that bothers them and/or compels them to fill the newsgroup with assinine, schoolyard garbage, that's OK too.

You know Frank I have a friend at P1 who's been to every Prince concert that's ever taken place in Texas, he's got every Prince album including a few dozen nobodies heard of, he has a notebook with all his Prince ticket stubs and a ton of Prince posters..

I *never* wore 'em though (in public)... There nice because I don't have to turn on the room light to go to the bathroom... And my wife likes 'em because it makes it easier to find me in the back yard after dark.

Nope. I never needed a UL listing. But it was fun getting your Worthless pal all defensive, especially after the crap he's said about me.

Yep. The fact is that all but a handful of installations by UL listed alarm companies meet UL standards. For most the UL certificate is just a marketing gimick. If you want to install commercial fire alarm systems for a living, you really should go for the UL listing. The same applies if you want to bid on banks and such. Most government contracts don't require it (or at least they didn't up to 5 years ago when I sold my alarm company).

If it bothers you when I put one of your pals on the defensive that's a plus.

Speaking of UL listings, leadership and so forth.... Oh, Mugsy? Naah. No point in asking. The idiot can't even spell UL, let alone fill out the application.

Mr. Bass....You might want to check the UL central station you recommend to all your DIY residential customers, the one that's on your web-sites. They're not UL listed for residential.....They only have a UUFX listing, that's not residential my friend.....CVSU is Residential Monitoring.
