difference between 3750 and 3750E

Can someone tell me what is the

  1. Difference between Cisco Catalyst 3750 and 3750-E series switches
  2. Difference between 3750 series switches and 3750 metro series.

Thats the easy part, cisco even puts it right up in the product page..

Thats a bit harder to define.

I believe the biggest differences in the ME line vs. non ME are just a handful of features. Mainly VLAN mapping (VLAN translation), as well as DC power support, and more power options.

That product page also has the question answered in the Q&A, although its a softer line of distinction.

Basicly, the ME line looks to be targeted towards pure service-providers, and the non-ME looks to be targeted towards more enterprise doing advanced MPLS/dynamic routing options.

main reasons for the metro at work are dual power, and the PXF chips (which allow hierarchical QoS on the 2 "WAN" GigE ports, so several logical links can share a connection, and have soft bandwidth limits).

These are relatively expensive, but the really painful bit used to be the "enhanced" licence cost.
