1603 R upgrade

Feb 15, 2006 3 Replies

got hold of an old 1603 R, running IOS 11.1(10)AA. Would like to upgrade to IOS 12.X, but are the images still available from Cisco ? As a student, I don't have a CCO account, so can't check, let alone download... I'm interested in the 'The run from the Flash Cisco IOS Software image', so an image-name with an 'L' in it.

Thanks,

daan

You need a support contract with Cisoc to obtain IOS software upgrades.

To answer your real question... yes the images for the "run from flash"

1600 routers are still available for download from Cisco - and as Merv pointed out, you'll need a valid support contract.

The IOS images will probably be available for some time to come. - but no development is going in to the images for the 1600's (that's probably why you can pick them up for $50 on eBay)

anFrom a business point of view, Cisco is doing the right thing. But in case of a private person interested in getting his CCNA cert, Cisco only assists in ripping your wallet.
