Help! Amateur needs assistance with Wireless Internet Access!

Shouldn't have to do anything. You can, of course, disable your ethernet connection. The wireless device should connect to the first open system it comes in range of.

To all: I am seeking assistance with accessing free internet service with a wireless connection. I have a broadband service I use when at home, but when travelling I want to access the free internet wireless service provided at most airports/hotels. I have just purchased a Linksys 2.4 Ghz notebook adapter. My laptop OS is Windows XP Home. How do I get this wireless system to work away from home? Do I need to temporarily disable my broadband connections? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!! KG
