BTConnect

Is your Router one of those that has "Parental Controls" and has this been enabled for the Laptop? If so disable it.

Make sure your Router is set to provide DHCP and while the laptop, make sure ethernet connection is set to obtain address automatically, is hardwired to it do a ipconfig /release followed by an ipconfig /renew and then do an ipconfig /all to check whether an IP address has been obtained.

Try Restoring to a point before you loaded the USB drivers onto your laptop.

Start-->Help and Support "undo changes to your computer with System Restore" (Pick a Task Menu) choose a time and date before you installed the USB drivers. Then re-install the drivers connect the USB wireless device, set it up and try again.

I'd tried to Restore many times before but it didn't help but tried one more time after your suggestion. It's worked.I'm now gonna move computer upstairs and test it again, Many thanks to Rob & Frank for all your effort. Steve
