trouble connecting linksys wireless g router

Dec 02, 2006 1 Replies

I've just bought a linksys wireless g router. Previously I had a usb external modem for my laptop. In the instructions for setting up the router it says to disconnect the modem and then plug the wire that used

to go to the pc into the router. But the wire from the modem to the laptop is a usb? How can I connect this to the router??

Would appreciate your help in setting this up.

If you don't have a router that supports USB, you can't. I suggest you buy a modem that has the RJ45 jack connection so that you can plug the cable from the modem to the RJ45 WAN port on the router. You should get a modem that has been approved to operate on the ISP's network, or tell the ISP you need a RJ45 jack type modem, if you can get one from the ISP.
