Netgear MR914v2 Problems

When I connect the cable modem directly to the computer, I have no issues and can use the internet without problems. I have properly set up the router in the following configuration (a configuration that I used all of last year):

cable modem -> router -> computer (via port 1)

The internet light on the front of the modem does NOT light up, HOWEVER, when I look at my network connections in windows, it says I am sending AND recieving packets. I cannot however get onto any instant messenging programs or view any websites. I used this same router with this same ISP for an entire year last year and never had a problem. Help

Have you ever tried connecting a different single computer to the modem?

I wonder if the router was reset to a defualt configuration. Did you ever "clone" the MAC address? of the working computer into the router?
