I'm a starter in this theme...i got an Ap and a wireless card on my computer, this Ap has an antenna and it has signal to 300m. What should i do to make this work?

One more Q: I have a laptop with a wireless card, is it possible for me to buckle an antenna in. Antenna would be either homemade or store-bought ?
