Connecting 2 wireless Routers

Nov 11, 2008 3 Replies

I'm thinking of buying the Popcorn Hour a-110 media player and have a question. I have a home network with my main router being a D-link Dir-655 wireless router. I also have an old D-link DI-624 wireless router lying around. Would I be able to connect the media player to the DI-624 directly via cable, then have the DI-624 connect wirelessly to the home LAN? ie. wireless connection between the 2 routers.

No. You need a wireless client bridge. See the wiki below.

Only if the 2nd wireless router has a bridge mode capability. The DI-624 is old and I doubt if it does. Also, I believe that's an 802.11b unit. The slower 11MBs speed on these are OK for internet browsing, but not well suited to streaming media.

Correction. My mistake re. the 802.11b. I was thinking of the DO-614. The DI-624 is 11g.
