Pretty straightforward stuff. WiFi-enabled IP cameras are available, but they ain't cheap (*quality* wired IP cameras aren't either for that matter, but you didn't mention any cost concerns).

If you stay within the Bosch brand for a digital IP solution you will have access to a suite of features the other vendors will simply never have. This is so for two reasons. Bosch purchased the all the patents and Bosch won't share them. I saw Video Insight listed here in another post. They don't manufacture anything but merely write software. They are not mainstream. They might have a good product one day, but in my opinion that day has not yet arrived. If you are price driven only brands like Geovision, Video Insight, Everfocus are vendors you might want to take a look at. If you are feature driven and value driven Axis and especially Bosch are better choices, again in my opinion. In the security market of today there are a few "big" players like GE, Honeywell, JCI, United Technologies, TYCO and Bosch. The rest don't have the financial resources these big companies do. Any fight amongst the big boys could wipe out the little guys almost overnight.

There is no reason to use, waste or tax the bandwidth you have available. With devices like the Bosch VIP X1 or X2 you could manage 4 cameras and you could "edge encode" as well as "edge record" the video, and still view live or recorded video whenever you wished and maintain a small footprint on the network traffic.
