Samsung (GVI) has a new digital watchdog unit that will do 32 channels.

Hmmm... according to Comart's website, their XECAP200 capture board (which VideoInsight uses) supports up to 32 cameras.

So, are you saying you know Comart's hardware better than Comart does as well?

AGAIN .. you still on this . .. it supports 32 channels, alot of cards do, but the darn SERVER SOFTWARE DOES NOT.

Okay ..??

Im writing a 64 camera client software app right now that will work with almost any PC DVR card .. that still doesnt mean the server softare will support that. I wish they would get a grip and upgrade it, but thats just how it is .. i have 32 channel clients all the time, but its a small world out there with 32 channel server side multi viewers.

also if you know something different with hard evidence and not what the sals guys told you, please post it, we are welcome to new ideas. Do you use Video Insight or are you just speculating?

thanks

So do you use 30+ channel multi view SERVER software?

Im not trying to argue, i need to know if what they told me is different that what they told you.

also, my info comes from one of the VI programmers (as well as the comart team themselves), but they may be hiding something , it happens.

snipped-for-privacy@videoinsight.com says differently. Check with him.

I use VideoInsight extensively. I've built several and our company has sold plenty of them. My information comes from a support tech, not a salesdroid.

Yes i know their site says it does 32 channels, and they do have a 32 channel card, but from talking to one of their techs myself, their server software does not support a 32 way view. eg. 32 channels in one screen. (or 30 or 36 which is even), only the client software supports that.

I get emails from comart developement team every week, as I have the SDK myself.

I've not yet had the need or opporunity to build a 32-channel machine. Unfortunately most people are cheep-ass bastards who think $5k for DVR and four "pro" cameras is too much because they can go to Costco and get a four-camera "security system" for $200. And most customers so far either don't need that many cameras, or are upgrading from their old systems that maxed out at 16 channels.

I told you what they told me... their site says the server app will do

32 cameras, and their tech I regularly talk to says the same.

Or your information is out of date - the XECAP cards are relatively new; we only just started getting them a couple months ago.
