After a system default, nothing will work. Time to call the pro and set it up again.

If you're not inclined to DIY, I agree. If you prefer to take care of your own security, you need the installation and programming manual. Following is a list of available manuals for the DSC Maxsys system. Let me know which you need and I'll email it to you.

I do put alarms in professionally. This was a take out panel and gave it to a friend, this is the 2nd time this has happened with a 4020, first one I just kept defaulting panel and it finally came up,this one just seems to have locked up. I have the original installers code and still can't seem to get this thing to take being defaulted.

Ok, since you mentioned that you are in the trade, this is how a 4020 suppose to work.

After a system default, connect only one working kp to the bus and power up the system, hit the # key on the kp and it should come to life, if it doesn't, then it is very likely that the kp is defective, and I have not seen a defective Maxsys in the last 10 years. After you have gotten the first kp to work, you will need to enroll more kps and modules from the first kp and assign them to zones and partitions.

From the error message you mentioned earlier in your post, it is very likely that the kp is not the original first kp in the system.
