They are fried after a storm... Not my install, but they can't get the company who installed it originally to even admit they used to do work here. I called them myself to verify I wasn't getting a story.



I need to do a quick clean swap. Normally I would just exchange to a Napco, but there is enough wireless to make it more expensive than I would be comfortable with. I have a few Ademcos in the field, but not enough to know all the models and sub-models and what to use as a modest price/pack to swap these out with.

Actually I am sure its Ademco as there was an Ademco user's manual left behind. (...and it looks like Ademco) Please lets skip the have you tried this or that part. I am sure the board is bad. The keypad display is also bad. Who knows if its any worse than that, but it goes. The receiver may be good or bad, but if its not to expensive I would prefer to just swap it than waste a bunch of time. Its cheaper to just swap it for me.


Thats a vista 20 panel depending how many wireless zones you could go with a vista `15P

58= wireless device, 82 = wireless receiver (81 is USA version) EN= English L= low (8 zones) M= medium (16 zones) H= high (48 zones)

The receiver supports 48 wireless zones for the Vista 20P, if you only need 16 wireless zones or less, you can use a 6150RF *fixed* English¹ or

6160RF Alpha keypad that has a built in receiver (each keyfob uses a zone, mind you).

Panel and RF keypad need to be at least 10'-15' apart physically if you go that route.

¹If you use a fixed English keypad in the installation, you will need a 6160 for programming (take away after programming). If you don't have one or don't want to invest in one for future Honeywell programming it *must* be downloaded.

Instead of finding the serial number on each device by removing it from mounting, you can use "learn mode" to make it easy on yourself. The bitch is when a PIR(s) are being tripped while you are trying to learn each device's serial. Best to get customer out of the PIR detection zone and learn them first, then pull power from them @ the motion so they don't f*ck you up while learning doors/windows/etc..

I ordered a "kit" with Vista 20 panel, and 6150RF keypad. Direct distance may be slightly less than that, but the panel is inside a whole home wiring box and setting on its own metal sheet mount, so there are two pieces of steel between the panel and the keypad. Wire length is probably about

20-25'

I actually have a couple 6160 keypads. I bought one for programming Ademco panels, and I got a couple more on a pull a few years ago.

As long as you have 16 wireless zones or less you're in business.

I have heard that rule as well but in practice, I have seen RF keypads right on the front of a panel or directly behind the panel on the other side of the wall.

I don't generally push my luck when I'm doing the install but on a take over I don't stress about it - I haven't seen any problems that were fixed by moving the keypad farther away from the panel.

I have had RF devices too close to the receiver (keypad) to work, so >5ft is my rule.
