Battery charging??

Aug 16, 2006 2 Replies

I was wondering if there was a rule of thumb as to how much power it used to recharge batteries? Most panels list the maximum amp hours that can be put on the panel. For example, how much energy does it take to recharge a 12v 7ah battery?

Charging current is usually limit to 10% by the battery. So a fully discharged 7AH battery will draw a maximum of 700mA from the charging circuit initially, which may or may not damage the onboard power supply circuitry depending on the current draw from system devices.
