Network configuration.... open original image

I have a broadband Internet connection coming into my house which connects to Netgear FVS318 VPN Firewall I plan to add a wireless point to my configuration (connected directly to the FVS318) how will this affect my security??

If the wireless point were to be compromised, would this affect my current network traffic?

Cheers.

Yes, the WAP's are the same as a wired connection on your network. With the proper WEP/security setup you can be mostly safe, but if your WAP is compromised then you are fully exposed.

Does your news server carry the group 'alt.internet.wireless'? If not, hit groups.google.com and search that group. There are several steps you can take to minimize your exposure/risk. The first thing to check is "do you really _need_ the wireless link".

Yes
