A WEB based application such as IE or other Web based applications/programs will switch to the LoopBack IP and wait keeping themselves ready.

In the ZoneAlarm log, where internet explorer makes the outgoing connection the phrase Loopback appears in the destination DNS column. I`ve never seen this happen before, can anyone explain what this Loopback thing is?
