802.1x EAPoL

I would like to generate some discussion on this topic. I have found countless resources on the web for how to configure it. I am past that. I have a working model, but I have weirdness. I am coming up dry when I search for tools on debugging.

For example: We are using Nortel 5510 switches and FreeRadius. My XP Pro machine is challenged at the port, and sends the appropriate information. I can see in Radius logs that the Radius server immediately responds back to the switch. But the client just sits there and says 'Limited or No Connectivity'. By then, all of my drive mappings have failed and applications that automatically launch at start-up are beginning to freak out because the network is not there. Eventually I get a 'Connected' notification and everything is fine. This delay can be up to 30-40 seconds after I login.

Is anyone out there experiencing similar issues? What about pushing policies out to clients when there is no one logged in on the machine? Please share your pain......

Thx.

This sounds like spanntree ("portfast") issues are interfering with your authentication. Either by misconfiguration or a software bug.
