vtp domain issues

Hey

We have 3 different vtp domains currently on our network and are currently trying to move them all onto 1 vtp domain.

Problem is this: If i have a switch for example and it is trunked to both vtp servers then i lose connectivity to the network as soon as i change vtp domains. All vlan info is updated correctly and vlan port assignments do not change. Am i missing something?

Are you waiting long enough while spanning tree does it's re-calculations? Typically it is 45-90 seconds. Is the switch seeing the new VTP server?

What you may be missing is that trunk negotiation depends on the VTP domain name being the same on both sides. Change one and you might lose your trunk. Never tried it this way because I usually configure trunking on (or off) manually. Set trunking on in the config and try again.
