newbie question: Pix vs. router

Jul 11, 2005 1 Replies

Hi all, My mandate is to keep costs to bear essentials. Here is what our situation will be in two weeks:

We are a small co. with 30 employees with 8 working from home offices. We will have 1/2 class C IP addresses. we want to ideally have DMZ for mail server, ftp and webserver We will be NATing We will have a full T1 line. ISP will provide router that they will have control of.

My opinion is that If we purchase a PIX 506e firewall with VPN bundle, that should satisfy our needs. It is my understanding that it does some internal routing so we do not need to purchase a separate router. It has VLAN so we can do DMZ.

To all the gurus out there: please let me know if my thinking is correct or if i've missed something.

Thank you,
