If I need to modify the subnet mask on one router and mask and IP on another can I use the ip address command - or do I need to delete the entry with no ip address then enter the new one?

If I need to modify the subnet mask on one router and mask and IP on another can I use the ip address command - or do I need to delete the entry with no ip address then enter the new one?
ip address command should replace it when you enter it, just be careful that you do the far end first if this is a point to point network.
