3800 Series port naming ?s

After reading the documentation for the Series 3800 on how ports are named, I have a couple of questions I thought someone reading this group might know the answers to.

If a 24-port ethernet card is inserted into one of the chassis slots, the lowest numbered port will be in the lower right-hand corner of that card. Is this port numbered 0 (zero) or 1?

Also, if the lowest numbered port is N, then where is N+1, directly to the left of N, or above N? As I read the docs, the numbering goes across the bottom, and then returns to the upper right hand port and continues again to the left. This means N is in the lower right hand corner, N+1 is to its left, and the port above N is N+12. Is my understanding of this correct?

TIA.
