Hi friends,
Given the options of 3700 vs 3800 series, it is a little confusing on which one to go for. I just wanted an answer to some questions:
- 3800 supports 1 GB DRAM. I am not able to foresee when I would need so much memory? Shouldn't the 3745 with 256 MB be just enough for the next 4-5 years? If you ask me my requirement currently, all I need is to use 3 Network modules (NM-2FE2W-V2, NM-8A/S X 2), WIC-2T x 2 cards and ISDN BRI S/T card. I dont have any requirement for voice and wireless. But I may need increased security later.
- The pps rating for 3745 is 225 kpps and for 3800 is 350 - 500 pps. Does that really make a difference if all I need is WAN links of a max of 2 Mbps?
- Is there any tool that tells me what is the roadmap for 3700 and
3800 series? I mean the expected lifecycle for 3700 and 3800 routers? Indformatrion like when is the 3700 likely to go end-iof-sale and the same with 3800 series.
Thanks a lot Gautam
