Do you know if the clock in a 2600 router is backed up by a battery on the motherboard? If so, does anyone know where it is located?

No, the time-of-day clock on cisco routers is not battery backed up. Its expected to get time-of-day via NTP/SNTP.
AFAIK the 2600 does not have a battery-backed up clock.
The new 1800, 2800, 3800 routers do have a battery-backed up clock.
You can set the correct time on your 2600 router using NTP - network time protocol.
