Configuring etherchannel on 2950

Apr 09, 2006 1 Replies

when configuring etherchannel on 2950 to another 2950 that already has a linkto each other using port 1 on each switch, does it matter if the cabling is set up first before the ports are configured and turned on? also can i use the existing ports 1 on each switch that are the current trunk link. in other words what are the physical steps in the process. i know the cli commands, but it would'nt hurt if someone also added them just to ensure my configs

thanks le

Yes you can use the existing trunk link as the first link in the etherchannel. Just enter the 'channel-group' command on each interface and the port-channel interface will be automatically created. Then you can add other interfaces to automatically come up within the group.
