cloning a mac address in a cable modem

Can I clone a mac address from one cable modem to another so RR doesn't know I switched cable modems . If so, how is it done? Does brand of cable modem matter?

Or do the newer wireless routers include a cable modem and if so, can I clone the mac address of the orig cable modem to the new wireless router and then connect the cable modem coax cable to the wireless router and use the router to do the rest?

There is a way to change a cable modem's MAC address, as it is stored in the modem's FLASH and is loaded into memory. You would need access to the modem's firmware or console style access to change the MAC or other settings.

However, this type of access is generally considered outside of a typical subscriber's needs.
