Your header comes from Supernews, so Verizon just subscribes to Supernews to provide usenet access.

He/She is wrong.
Jeremy the Verizon News Admin. monitors the News Groups for problems, post informative updates, looks for requests for News Groups to be added and posts the to be added news Groups.
