wireless icon in system tray

I have a Sony Vaio and use it with a home 801b wireless network. Usuallywhen I am on the network a little connection icon (single computer) shows inthe system tray. If I hover the pointer over it, this reveals the networkname, connections speed and signal strength. Sometimes, even though I am onthe network, the icon doesn't show up.I find the icon very useful and would like to have it all the time. Why isit there sometimes and not there others? What might be the procedure tocorrect this?Thanks,Willie

No, I was talking about system (or is it now called notification) tray. From time to time various items would disappear.

However I can now confirm that the registry entry Jeff convered does seem to have cured the annoying refreshes I got on closing all my open windows/applications/folders :) I had no Max Cached Icons on my XP Pro (SP2) system so had to create it.
